Grandmothers

A lady named Margaret Munning (1545-1582) is the 11th great grandmother of the Fredericksen children - Gary, Karen, Mark and Patti. She is an ancestor of Ester Haines – Grandmother Harriet Paul Fredericksen's side of the house.

She was also the:

......10th great grandmother of John Steinbeck (1902-1968). American Author
John Steinbeck's writing is characterized by portrayals of working class families in California . He won the Nobel Prize for Literature as well as the Pulitzer Prize. Two of his most famous works are The Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men.

......the 9th great grandmother of Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt (1861-1948). First Lady Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt was the second wife of President Theodore Roosevelt. As First Lady, she had strong character, sound judgment and good household management skills.

......the 8th great grandmother of Lou Henry Hoover (1874-1944). First Lady Lou Henry Hoover, wife of Herbert C. Hoover, created a period style sitting room with furniture owned by James Madison. She also restored Abraham Lincoln's study so her husband could use it.

......the 7th great grandmother of Grace Anna Goodhue Coolidge (1879-1957). First Lady Grace Goodhue Coolidge was a strong support to her husband, Calvin Coolidge, during his rise in politics. Her extroverted friendliness brought balance to his shyness.

......the 6th great grandmother of Mary Baker Eddy(1821-1910). Mary Baker Eddy was an influential American author, teacher, and religious leader, noted for her groundbreaking ideas about spirituality and health, which she named "Christian Science." She articulated those ideas in her major work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, first published in 1875. Four years later she founded the Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston , Massachusetts , which today has branch churches and societies around the world. In 1908 she launched The Christian Science Monitor, a leading international newspaper, the recipient, to date, of seven Pulitzer Prizes.

......the 6th great grandmother of J. P. Morgan (1837-1913). John Piermont Morgan I was one of the wealthiest men at the beginning of the 20th century. A financier and banker, he arranged the merger for General Electric, and his bank today is known as Morgan Stanley.
